Following rumours and reports of Swamp Thing‘s cancellation early yesterday, DC has decided to release a teaser trailer with a first look at the live-action titular monster. But is it enough to reassure fans?
After a tweet from one of the show’s stars surfaced yesterday, it’s been reported that Warner Bros. halted production on Swamp Thing and cut short the season length from 13 episodes to ten. However, others are reporting that it was purely a creative decision rather than a cause for concern. The trailer drops amid reports of this murky future.
Based on this teaser alone, Swamp Thing, which joins Doom Patrol and Titans as DC Universe’s live-action offerings, looks promising. It’s dark and gritty as it should be. It’s all in those glowing red eyes.
Based on the DC characters originally written and drawn by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson in the ’70s, Swamp Thing stars Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Derek Mears as the monster form of the character, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, with Kevin Durand playing the villain of the series, Jason Woodrue, aka Floronic Man, a brilliant but abrasive scientist who gets transmogrified super-villain into the super-villain, and Ian Ziering as Daniel Cassidy, a.k.a. the Blue Devil.
