ILMxLAB the studio behind the Lightsaber VR game Trails on Tatooine have announced that David Goyer (The Dark Knight) will be collaborating with them on a new story-based project featuring Darth Vader.
The announcement was made at the Star Wars experience over the past weekend. The team wanted to focus on things that we haven’t seen yet in the Star Wars universe and wanted to create a unique experience that would work in VR.
“When we looked at all the characters, places, and worlds in the Star Wars universe available to us, we asked ourselves, ‘What haven’t we seen before? Who are we curious about?”
Goyer said that the team all agreed that Darth Vader would be the ideal character for this story-driven VR project. After all, who wouldn’t want to play as Darth Vader in a VR game/experience?
“Darth Vader is the perfect ambassador to usher us into the Star Wars VR universe.”
ILMxLAB also revealed that their critically acclaimed VR experiment Trails on Tatooine would be free to download on Steam VR starting Monday the 18th of July.
Trails on Tatooine puts you in the shoes of a Jedi Padawan as you have to use your Lightsaber to deflect blaster bolts back at firing Stormtroopers.
It seems that we might be getting closer to a fully fledged Star Wars VR game where you actually feel like a Jedi. It is a good time to be a Star Wars fan.
