Daniel Wellington Sheffield – Watch Review

Daniel Wellington is a Swedish watch brand that has been going from strength to strength since it’s creation back in 2011. If you read our Daniel Wellington Dapper Durham watch review, you’ll know we’re big fans of the brand – simply because it oozes class and style. The Classic Black 36MM Sheffield continues to confirm our positive opinion about the timepieces. It’s just ultra elegant and minimalistic – something you’d find on the wrist of someone like Bruce Wayne.

Daniel Wellington Sheffield Watch

Since our first review, DW has grown its selection of products and now offers several different collections with a variety of different straps and faces. Whatsmore, they now offer an array of beautiful cuffs to compliment your watch. Like their timepieces, the cuffs reflect simplicity and quality. They make for the perfect combo.

If you’re like me and you’ve grown tired of pulling out your cell phone just to check the time, these beautiful watches are very practical. In fact, they’re designed to make you feel at ease in the workplace, out on the town or a more social setting. It can be dressed up or down. It’s versatile; both smart and casual. The classic and simple look of the Sheffield watch makes it easy on the eye, but also practical and straightforward for everyday use. The watch face comes in two different sizes, 36mm or 40mm, and features Daniel Wellington’s signature round design with minimal markings and elegantly slim hands.

Daniel Wellington Bangle Cuff

As with the Dapper Durham, the watch and cuff arrived within a week in elegant boxes which match the quality we’ve grown accustomed to. Like its design, everything is super smart and polished. There is no complicated information or tricky ‘how to’ guides. Inside you’ll find your shiny new watch, a manual, warranty slip (2-year guarantee) and a tiny tool used to change the straps of the watch.

The black leather strap is comfortable (the leather gets soft fairly quickly) but tough enough to withstand different conditions and suitable for every occasion. It is also removable, meaning you could swap it for one of Daniel Wellington’s other nylon straps available. Another ‘cool’ factor about this brand is that the watches seem unisex. Yes, they do have a men’s selection and a woman’s selection, but this watch should look good on either wrist. Same goes for the cuffs. They look equally good on either sex.

Daniel Wellington Sheffield Watch

With leather darker than the deepest parts of the ocean, the Classic Sheffield was carefully designed to stand the test of time while maintaining its effortless beauty. This minimalistic piece proves that simple does not necessarily mean boring.

Daniel Wellington watches are manufactured and sold from Sweden but are available at a few local outlets. I have discovered that it is a lot cheaper to order it direct from their official website, though. A Daniel Wellington Sheffield watch is $199 online, but I’ve seen them sell for over four thousand rand locally. The price is reasonable, however. The quality and craftsmanship is really good. It’s the type of quality timepiece that will make a perfect birthday or Christmas gift. Same can be said about the cuffs, which sell for $59 (about R800) online.

Like the first watch, I’ve got nothing but praise for Daniel Wellington. After receiving the first one, I didn’t look anywhere else to get another. Furthermore, I’d suggest you get the cuff too. Maybe I’m old school, but watches are made to boost your coolness. Ask Bruce Wayne if you don’t believe me.

Daniel Wellington is giving Fortress of Solitude readers 15% off (valid until 15th Jan 2017) to use at the online store using the discount code: JarrodXmas.
