After months of speculation and back and forth, Daniel Craig has officially announced that he will return as James Bond.
Daniel Craig, the sixth actor to play the role of Ian Fleming’s 007, finally put rumours to rest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert where he announced that he will reprise his role in the upcoming James Bond 25.
“Yes. I always wanted to, I wanted a break,” Craig said when Colbert asked about his decision to return. He also went onto state that he would like to go out on a high note. “I just want to go out on a high note, and I can’t wait,” he told the host.
In September last year, there were reports that Sony and MGM had been actively searching for someone to take over the role. There were also rumours that the studios had narrowed their search to six potential names, which included Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, Charlie Hunnam, Luke Evans and Tom Hiddleston. Those who were looking forward to seeing a new actor as 007 will have to wait a little longer.
