The CW continues to expand it’s DC footprint with another TV show based on a popular adult-themed horror comic book. Spearheaded by Jared Frieder, who previously worked as a writer on the MTV scripted series Sweet/Vicious, Survivor’s Club is based on characters created for DC/Vertigo in 2015 by South Africa’s Lauren Beukes, Dale Halverson (aka @joeyhifi) and American comic book artist Ryan Kelly. If you’re a fan of dark and offbeat TV shows, this might be one to look out for.
The comic book followed six people who had horrific experiences as children in 1987. The full synposis for the comic series:
One was possessed by a poltergeist. Another was trapped in a haunted house. A third had a killer doll. Ever wonder what happened to these children of the 1980s? Find out in Survivor’s Club, a new series co-written by renowned horror novelist Lauren Beukes and award-winning cover designer and illustrator Dale Halverson, with art by Ryan Kelly.
Having found each other over the internet, six grown-up survivors are drawn together by the horrors they experienced in 1987 when a rash of occult events occurred around the world—with fatal results. Now, there are indications that it may be happening all over again. Is it possible that these six aren’t just survivors—but were chosen for their fates?
Survivor’s Club will join other DC-Vertigo horror comics TV shows like iZombie, Lucifer, and AMC’s Preacher already produced by The CW.
