While the general public may have to wait a little longer to see Wonder Woman 1984, a selection of critics have been treated to early screenings of the film. Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she wrote with Geoff Johns and David Callaham, it serves as a sequel to 2017’s blockbuster hit Wonder Woman.
Gal Gadot and Chris Pine reprise their roles from the first movie, while Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal make their DC debut. Set during the Cold War in 1984, the story follows Diana Prince as she faces off with two formidable foes – media businessman Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-enemy Barbara Ann Minerva.
Following the screenings, critics took to social media to share their thoughts on the film and the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.

“I’m so happy to report that #WW84 is an absolute blast from start to finish. An exceptional compliment to the first film, it’s stuffed w/ heart, hope, love, action, romance and humour. Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot and team delivered one of DC’s best sequels. I was in tears when it ended.”

Judging from these reactions, the movie promises to be everything fans had hoped for and then some. Wonder Woman 1984 will premiere on HBO Max and in theatres on December 25, 2020.
