After the surprise success of the first Creed film, a spin-off from the Rocky franchise, fans would be delighted to know that the cast will be reprising their roles for the upcoming sequel, Creed II. Michael B. Jordan stars as Adonis Creed, as he continues his uphill battle to fight against his father’s legacy to create his own. He attempts to do this, once again, by pitting his wits against the best in the boxing world. The first trailer for the film, below, has delivered great intrigue for the release.
As with the Rocky IV film, which sees Creed lose to Drago in the ring, ultimately leading to his death, Adonis too comes up against yet another Drago. As for the film itself, it seems there’s a lot of similarities between the two franchises, but it still seems a pretty good watch nonetheless. And just as Rocky Balboa fought his demons, as well as the rise of fame and fortune, death, and other struggles, Adonis seems eager to repeat history. This time, however, instead of Adrian worrying about Rocky, it’s Rocky worrying about Adonis.
The film is directed by Steven Caple Jr. and stars Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, and Dolph Lundgren. Creed II is set to hit theatres on 21 November 2018.
Under guidance from Rocky Balboa, boxing phenom Adonis Johnson prepares for a bout against the son of Ivan Drago — the former Russian fighter who killed his father in the ring years earlier.
