With remasters of old games being all the rage, especially since the release of the excellent Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited games, it was only a matter of time until a new nostalgic gem would receive a remaster. Enter Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled.
During The Game Awards, Activision announced Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, a remaster of the excellent and underrated Crash Team Racing, which originally released on the PlayStation 1.
The game was initially developed by Naughty Dog (yes, that Naughty Dog) but is now being remastered by Beenox. Basically, the original game was the PlayStation equivalent of Mario Kart, with some fans even feeling that it was in some respects a better racing game than Mario’s.
The game will stay true to the original game but, naturally, will receive all the necessary visual and gameplay upgrades one would expect from more modern games. Co-Studio Head of Beenox, Thomas Wilson, has already commented on how much respect the team has for the original and that their remake will try and remain as faithful as possible.
The remaster will be built from the ground up, similar to how the Spyro Reignited game was developed.
Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is set for release on the 21st of June 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
