After the success of It: Chapter One, producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are looking at rebooting another popular horror franchise, Child’s Play. According to Collider, we might see a technologically-advanced Chucky come to life in a reboot.
Despite the recent release of Cult of Chucky, MGM is looking to revive the franchise by changing things up a little. Of course, this has nothing to do with the Chucky TV series that’s currently in the works either. The new franchise will ignore the prior films (there is currently seven) and focus on a new group of kids (a la Netflix’s Stranger Things and IT) who discover the evil doll.
The original Child’s Play followed Charles Lee Ray, a serial killer who casts a spell that traps his soul inside the body of a Good Guy doll, who is given the name of Chucky. Since the film’s release in 1988, the film and its title character have become iconic in the world of horror.
