Even fans of Pokémon have sometimes wondered if stuffing cute critters into a small ball and then forcing them to fight could be considered humane. Well, now the producer behind Netflix’s Castlevania, Adi Shankar, has released a new animated short re-imagining Pokémon as you’ve never seen before. Be warned this is very violent.
The animated short, titled The End of Pokémon, reimagines the world as you’ve never seen it before; Dark, gritty and very bloody.
The short follows Ash Ketchum, the kid who wanted to catch them all, after the death of his beloved Pikachu. Ash, grieving his loss and filled with anger, decides to free all Pokémon so that they no longer have to participate in mindless violent fights for the entertainment of humans. Ash soon draws support from others who help him target trainers and teach them a bloody lesson. Obviously Misty ties to be the voice of reason and Brock soon finds himself on the wrong side of the uprising. Also, Team Rocket is just plain scary in this world.
The animated short was directed by Luis Pelayo Junquera and Enol Junquera and was created by the team behind the Bootleg Universe shorts based on both The Punisher and Judge Dredd. It was posted by Octopie.
We’ll never look at Pokémon the same ever again.
