Most games nowadays let you be the hero, the shining light of truth and justice, the one who will save the day. Carrion isn’t such a game.
Carrio, a game by developer Phobia Game Studio, puts you in the shoes, or rather pulsating flesh, of a killer blob.
Instead of saving the day or running from your foes you will be sneaking up on unsuspecting enemies and basically consuming them in order to become bigger and deadlier. No one is safe from your tentacled grip of death as you basically cause all kinds of destruction.
While you will be more than capable of taking down most foes, there will be some, like those wielding flamethrowers, who will take a bit more cunning to take out.
The game’s pixel art visuals help accentuate the death and destruction as blood, and even body parts, fly everywhere. It’s almost mesmerising watching the creature slither and squirm from area to area.
The developer has also stated that the game has Metroidvania-inspired gameplay and you will be unlocking new abilities along the way that will open up new areas to you to explore, with new enemies to slay.
Carrion is set for release on both PC and consoles sometime in 2020, and we can’t wait to be the bad guy (or bad blob of flesh) for a change.
