It’s another year, which means another entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Recently quite a bit of speculation has been doing the rounds on whether the next entry could indeed be a new Black Ops game. Well, speculate no more, as Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be releasing later this year.
Activision revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 would be releasing on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on the 12th of October 2018. This is much sooner than expected, as up until now November has always been Call of Duty month. The game is being developed by Treyarch, who has been in charge of developing the Black Ops games since the first one released. Activision has been rotating between the three Call of Duty studios and, when news leaked that Treyarch would be heading up this year’s release, there wasn’t much doubt that the next game in the franchise would be a Black Ops one.
Judging from the very short teaser trailer that was released by Activision, it seems that Black Ops 4 will see us once again returning to modern times. The trailer is much too short to gain information with regards to the game’s story, although I did spot a zombie or two.
Beyond a release date, Activision hasn’t revealed much more. What we do know is that there will be a special event hosted on the 17th of May 2018 where Activision will reveal more about the upcoming game. Chances are that we will see more of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 at this years E3, which already promises to be filled with loads of new titles and reveals.
