After much speculation, Activision has officially announced that the next Call of Duty game will be titled Call of Duty: WW2.
The Call of Duty: WW2 announcement was made on the franchise’s Twitter account, which also revealed that Sledgehammer Games will be leading development of the title. This will be the second time that the development of a Call of Duty title will be lead by Sledgehammer Games. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until the 26th of April 2017 for the full reveal. The worldwide reveal will be streaming live on the Call of Duty website. Expect loads of shooting, explosions and maybe a vehicle or two.

Earlier this year, rumours speculated that the next Call of Duty would be returning to the battlefields of World War 2, as the game was said to be “returning to its roots”. Many suspected that this could be because the futuristic setting of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare did not resonate with a portion of the franchise’s audience.
It’s great to see franchises such as Battlefield and Call of Duty returning to old-timey warfare.
