Will Smith is teaming up with Suicide Squad director David Ayer for a Netflix exclusive movie called Bright, written by Max Landis.
Netflix has spent upwards of $90 million on Bright, a cop drama (fantasy action film) set in a world that also contains mystical creatures, including elves and orcs. Smith’s character partners up with an orc (Joel Edgerton) to track down a superweapon. The trailer debuted during the Academy Awards.
This is undoubtedly Netflix’s biggest project so far. The streaming video company also reportedly paid over $100 million for Martin Scorsese’s next film, The Irishman, with Robert DeNiro, as well as $60 million for the Brad Pitt-starring War Machine.
Bright is set to premiere on Netflix later this year.
