Marvel Studios has shared the second trailer for their much-anticipated 2019 film, Captain Marvel, a prequel of sorts. The first trailer, which arrived in September, has already been viewed 46 million times on YouTube. Expect this one, which shows off more of Carol Danvers’ unique powers, to garner just as many.
The highlight of the new video, of course, is Captain Marvel fighting a shapeshifting Krull, disguised as a grandma, on a moving bus. We saw a bit of this in the first trailer, but it’s played out a little more in the second.
By now, most Marvel fans have seen Avengers: Infinity War and know that some aspect of Captain Marvel will incorporate the events of the film, especially since the post-credits scene involved Nick Fury calling on Carol Danvers for help.
With fewer than 100 days to go before the film’s release, Disney is starting to fire up their advertising. Expect more clips, trailers, posters, artwork and TV spots as we draw closer to March 2019.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the centre of the maelstrom.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the film also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, and Annette Bening.
