Blue Ocean VR – Virtual Reality Like Never Before

Lately, Virtual Reality (VR) is all that the cool kids have been talking about. So having been afforded the opportunity to try out this up and coming technology, thanks to Blue Ocean VR, I decided to brave the unknown world of Virtual Reality.

Blue Ocean VR

Blue Ocean VR is a new Virtual Reality Experience Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. It’s basically a future version of those old gaming arcades that use to eat up all you change, except it features some of the most hight tech VR technology commercially available (HTC Vive). Blue Ocean VR lets you experience the mind-blowingness of VR without having to go out and buy one of the very expensive VR units yourself. It’s a great concept as I firmly believe that VR not only needs to be experienced by as many people as possible but, just like Blue Ocean VR themselves, I believe that Virtual Reality offers more than just shooting some stray zombies in the face (although this is still loads of fun).

Blue Ocean VR’s vision is that people will see their services not just as a gaming arcade that lets you shoot the above-mentioned zombies, but as a training tool among other things. They aim to use the technology so that educational institutions can bring their learners in order to experience what they might have learned in the classroom first hand. Imagine learning about the moon landing, and through VR being able to be there and experience it, or being able to let the learner express themselves creatively through art. It’s a concept that would have made my days at school so much more bearable.

My day spent at Blue Ocean VR not only taught me that I was actually quite a good shot, but that the future of VR lies in more than just gaming. Not only have I been thoroughly convinced that VR is more than just a passing fad, I also find myself excited for what the future holds for this evolving technology. I highly recommend that if you have the opportunity to go try VR for yourself. It might just be a life changing experience.

Blue Ocean VR

Blue Ocean VR is situated at 905 Bedford Centre Office Tower, cnr Smith and Van Der Linde roads, Bedfordview.
