Reports are circulating that Captain Marvel actress, Lashana Lynch has been cast as 007 in the 25th Bond instalment.
“There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, “Come in 007”, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman,” The Guardian‘s source said. “It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007.”
How much screen time the British Lynch will have as ‘007’ and how pivotal her character is for the film and the future of the franchise is up for debate.
Is this simply more ‘wokeness’ from Hollywood or pandering to attract a larger audience?
Bond producer, Barbara Broccoli has stated before, that there would ‘never’ be a female Bond.
Wow. Lashana Lynch is the next 007. She’s not playing Bond, but will take over the code name. Brava, Phoebe Waller-Bridge for ushering in a new era where WoC can lead a spy series, like Sandra Oh in #KillingEve. H/t @iamlaurenp https://t.co/qcSpMHF2zR
