Warner Brothers Pictures has released a new trailer for Ready Player One filled with even more recognisable pop culture characters, including the Dark Knight himself.
Ever wanted to climb a mountain with Batman, or battle alongside the Iron Giant or even get chased by the T-Rex from Jurassic Park? Well, Ready Player One has you covered. The latest trailer for the upcoming film from Steven Spielberg based on the bestseller by Ernest Cline features more than a few familiar faces (especially if you grew up in the 80s’). Not only does the Dark Knight make a quick appearance but the killer doll Chucky is also seen wielding a knife and chuckling maniacally. Heck, there is even mention of Lex Luthor.
For those not familiar with the novel on which the film is based, the story takes place in the far-off future of 2045 as the world is on the brink of collapse. A brilliant inventor James Halliday (Mark Rylance) has created a virtual world called the OASIS in which the remaining people find salvation. Unfortunately, Halliday dies and decides to leave his fortune to anyone who can find an Easter-egg he himself has hidden in the OASIS. It’s up to an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) to go searching for this mysterious Easter-egg as he goes on a journey that will take him through fantastical worlds filled with all too familiar faces.
