DC continues to release new and exciting Batman animated films based on popular DC comic books. A leaked image from Amazon suggests that the next animated film after Batman and Harley Quinn will be an adaptation of a 1989 one-shot graphic novel Batman: Gotham By Gaslight.

The above image has been found on Amazon’s site, as the back of the Batman and Harley Quinn cover. As you can see, it shows that the Blu-ray will feature a sneak peek of the DC Universe’s next animated film, Batman: Gotham By Gaslight.

For those who don’t know, Gotham by Gaslight is a fan favourite Batman story written by Brian Augustyn with art by Hellboy’s Mike Mignola and inking by P. Craig Russell. The graphic novel features a Victorian-era Batman in 1889 fighting Jack the Ripper in Gotham City. Basically, it’s a steampunk Batman that hunts down the famous serial killer. It’s probably one of the earliest Elseworld stories for The Dark Knight.

The book’s synopsis:

“In an age of mystery and superstition, how would the people of Gotham react to a weird creature of the night, a bat-garbed vigilante feared by the guilty and the innocent alike? The very first Elseworlds tale re-imagines the Dark Knight detective in Victorian times and pits him against the infamous murderer Jack the Ripper.”

Directed by Sam Liu (Batman: The Killing Joke), Batman and Harley Quinn stars Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester, reprising their Batman: The Animated Series roles as Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson.

nah I can’t say I have. I’ve come across the whole steampunk vibe but never delved into it. It’s so random you’ve tagged me in this at this moment. I’ve just left a toy shop in Vietnam with some of the best action figures I’ve seen. Loads of the 30cm tall Arkham Knight figures of Deathstroke and Batman. I thought of you
