Rumours have been doing the rounds since last year that Nintendo was planning on releasing an N64 mini console. It makes sense for Nintendo to revisit this much-loved console as their mini versions of the SNES and NES had sold really well. Now, a set of leaked images might actually give us our first look at this rumoured console. But are these actually real or fake?
The images leaked via Reddit, the place where most rumours are born and features some close-ups of what appears to be a mini version of the N64. So, are these real? There are currently two schools of thought, those that remark on how realistic (and legitimate) the information on the bottom of the console looks and those that feel that the removable controller ports, as well as the fact that all the images are really close-up, could indicate that these are fake.
These images aren’t the only news that has sparked rumours about an N64 mini as a trademark filed by Nintendo last month for an N64 controller was approved. Many have also remarked on how Nintendo released both the SNES and NES mini consoles a year apart from each other which would make this the perfect time to release another mini console, especially with the holiday season quickly approaching.
It’s important that this is based on rumours and should, of course, be taken with a grain of salt.
I’m so excited for the SNES Classic, and even though I didn’t get a preorder it would have been great if these top 25 games would have been the preloaded one (Although most are). The only ones I felt deserved a spot were Actrasier, Mario Paint, Krustys Super Fun House, Killer Instinct and God forgive me Bubsy. I mean those were some of my SNES games of my childhood and I still think they’re great (No matter what anyone says) Overall though to this day I think the SNES was the best video game system to date!
“This feeling in my chest is brutal, to consider DKC anything but a top 3 game let alone the best game on the system.
Then again, I realize I’m on the outside looking in when it comes to Zelda. I do like Link to the Past, but it never had that feeling of pure joy, awesomeness from literal minute 1. That, and it has one of the best overall soundtracks ever. Visually the game was stunning back then, and it still holds up well today with a very good art style.”
