Before Jason Momoa was cast as Aquaman in the DCEU, Alan Ritchson appeared as the Atlantean on Smallville in 2005. However, in 2006, the creators sought to create an Aquaman spin-off with a different actor. Fortunately or unfortunately, Justin Hartley’s Aquaman never went beyond a pilot episode. If this trailer is anything to go by though, the CW and DC dodged a bullet.
Aquaman has long been the butt of fish jokes, however, Momoa has managed to make the character cool. The same cannot be said for Hartley’s version of the character. Watch the trailer for the unaired show below. Try not to cringe.
A young twenty-something diver living in the Florida Keys discovers he has the power to breathe underwater.
Funny enough, the Aquaman pilot became one of the first shows offered by Warner on the iTunes Store. Amazingly, it reached the number-one spot on the list of most downloaded TV shows on the digital store’s list within a week. Go figure.
I thought it was awesome
At least he looks like a young aquaman. Mamoa doesn’t look like Aquaman at all.
Young gay aquaman*
He isn’t supposed to be young. The TV show version looks like Baywatch.
Smh you do know there are several versions of Aquaman right ?
Thank god Christopher Sharples
Thank God Mamoa snag the role..
isn’t that ‘Kevin’ from ‘this is us’?
Yes. It is
“Alan Ritchson appeared as the Atlantean on Smallville in 1995…”
Meant to be 2005 lol
It happens…😂😂
Oh dear, oh no
Good thing they did since he went on to become the best version of the green arrow anyway.
wow a real recent development…i guess if there is nothing to write it doesnt matter if it happened 10 years before…its fair game….lame
Aneta
So hot!!
Not like the movie is any better but whatever
Yeah well… I bet Justin Hartley is saying the same thing… being that he is now on a top rated show on a major network and not forever type-cast by a crap show on a crap “network.”
You can’t go from being the Green Arrow to playing Aquaman.
Actually looks like Arthur Curry, though.
