The Internet Reacts To The Extended Aquaman Trailer

Warner Bros has released five minutes of footage from DC’s upcoming superhero movie, Aquaman. The movie’s second trailer debuted at New York Comic Con this past weekend, giving fans an early look at some of the drama, humour, fast-paced action scenes and spectacular visual effects from the movie – as well as evidence of an actual trident.

In the film, Jason Momoa plays Author Curry / Aquaman – the son of Queen Atlanna who falls in love with lighthouse keeper, Tom Curry. The adventurous journey follows Arthur Curry as he learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. He finds himself caught between a surface world that ravages the sea and the underwater Atlanteans who are ready to revolt. The story also explores the history of Atlantis and presents an entire world that fans have never seen before on screen.

Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and be a hero to the world.

Speaking about the movie at San Diego Comic Con in July, director James Wan said, “I want it to feel more like a quest, fantasy movie. I wanted people to see just the visuals of the different worlds and what they are getting themselves into, like you are seeing it for the first time.”

Aquaman also stars Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Willem Dafoe as Vulko and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the vengeful Black Manta.

Aquaman is scheduled to open in theaters on December 21, 2018.

Of course, the internet had some funny reactions, both positive and negative, to the new trailer.

The #Aquaman trailer manages to look visually incredible while simultaneously presenting its lead as a strange dumb guy stereotype from a children's show. Hoping he has more depth in the actual movie.

DUDE!!!! New #Aquaman trailer looks tight!!! James Wan is really looking to break the DCEU mold and….I'm totally on board.

Okay. We are completely sold on #Aquaman. James Wan's epic direction & fluid camera-style, and Don Burgess' bold cinematography are beautifully capturing this dazzling world. From the costume design to the stunning visual effects, this film is going to blow us away in December! pic.twitter.com/ywVwuGJjqK

AQUAMAN looks incredibly dumb and the CG isn't quite up to snuff and that action sequence needs some better editing, but it also looks super fun and bright and Detective Destroyer kicks ass with a trident, so probably gonna be there opening weekend.
