DC’s Cyborg and Aquaman are finally set to make their debuts in the DCEU when Justice League releases this week, but it seems director Zack Snyder has already hidden easter eggs for their appearances in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. While doing press for the upcoming film, Jason Momoa and Ray Fisher both confirmed two fan theories. One, that Clark Kent was actually saved by Aquaman in that oil rig scene from Man of Steel and, two, that Victor Stone’s accident was partly to blame for Gotham City University’s loss to Metropolis in the football match in Batman v Superman.
“I think the beautiful thing is the connectivity,” said Cyborg actor Ray Fisher. “Because if you look at Batman v Superman [Dawn of Justice], when Gotham City University is getting destroyed by Metropolis [in football] 50 to nothing. If you track it back timeline wise, that would have been just around the time Victor Stone, who was their all-star quarterback, got into his accident and was no longer able to be a part of the team.”
Jason Momoa added his own anecdote by revealing that Aquaman plays a part in Superman’s rescue in Man of Steel.
“I’ll give you a cool little thing that’s not in this movie, but what Zack told me his idea for what he was doing for Aquaman,” began Momoa. “In Man of Steel, when Henry [Cavill] is saving, on the oil rig, he’s holding that up. And all the sudden you just see him, he kinda floats up on the ocean. [Snyder]’s like, ‘I had Aquaman save him, so that they did cross paths at one point.’ So when Bruce goes, ‘Have you heard of [Superman]?’ I’m like, I have. We have crossed paths.”
They both talk about the easter eggs and Justice League connection around the 4:55 mark:
Me and a friend had a theory when Man of Steel just released that Aquaman was the cause of the oil rig disaster because it impacts the ocean. We joked about how cool it would be to see an extended cut where he was shown even if it was just a glimpse.
