- Fortress of Solitude received a pre-release download code for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition from Nintendo with strict guidelines.
- A writer from Fortress of Solitude violated the guidelines by sharing unauthorized details and images on 4chan.
- Nintendo identified the writer and issued a legal notice to stop the unauthorized disclosures.
This is an apology to Nintendo and Monolith Soft.
Nintendo gave Fortress of Solitude a pre-release download code for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, with a set of strict guidelines on what can and cannot be disclosed before the release date of 29th May 2020. We shared the download code and the guidelines with one of our writers for the purposes of reviewing the game.
This writer ignored these guidelines by publishing photographs of characters and leaking further unannounced details about the game on 4chan. Nintendo was able to identify him, and delivered legal notice instructing him to cease and desist.
This writer’s actions have cost Fortress of Solitude its business relationship with Nintendo, and mean we will no longer be given access to Nintendo content.
We sincerely apologise to Nintendo and Monolith Soft for this breach of trust.
