Anya Taylor-Joy, known for Split and The Witch, will play Magik and Maisie Williams, of Game of Thrones, will play Wolfsbane in Fox’s upcoming X-Men: New Mutants film.
Fox’s long-awaited superhero movie spin-off, X-Men: New Mutants, is finally kicking into gear. Along with the announcement of two cast members, THR has also learnt more details about the plot and the production of the film.
Anya Taylor-Joy’s character, Magik, who is the sister of Colossus, has been described as “a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel”, while Maisie Williams’s character is described as “a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf.”
The film is said to focus on the adventures of a diverse group of teens that include Native American Danielle Moonstar, Scots girl Wolfsbane, Brazilian ladies man Sunspot, a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball, and Russian teen Magik. According to sources, Fox is making serious efforts to find ethnically appropriate actors to play the various roles.
