In Annabelle Comes Home, 12-year-old Mckenna Grace plays Judy Warren, the daughter of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren on which The Conjuring films are based. In a new featurette, real-life Judy shares some of her memories of the infamous Annabelle doll and her parents as demonologists.
In Annabelle Comes Home, the Warrens bring the malevolent doll back to their house, placing the toy in their room of haunted artefacts for safety. Of course, it’s not long before Annabelle finds a way out and begins to haunt Judy and her friends.
While the film’s plot is mostly fictional, Judy Warren was consulted while writing the movie.
“Judy and Tony Spera (her husband) have been very helpful since the early days,” says writer/director Gary Dauberman. “We called them, and had a fun conversation about what we were planning to do with this, and drew on some of the elements of Judy’s own childhood, and how she viewed her parents and what they did for a living. It just adds to the riches of the character’s story.”
