What do you get when you combine the talents of the Oscar-nominated Amy Adams, the author of Gone Girl, HBO, director Jean-Marc Vallée, and executive producer Jason Blum? Something truly unsettling. And that’s exactly what the upcoming eight-episode TV series Sharp Objects is. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn, as expected, it’s a dark story of psychological trauma and murder. Expect ominous imagery, creepy characters and a skin-crawling soundtrack.
“Ma says she saw a ghost once,” a voice echoes. “I’m not scared of them ghosts. Are you?”
The series will tell the story of reporter Camille Preaker (Adams) who returns to her small hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.
