With the release of the next generation of consoles drawing ever closer, it stands to reason that supposed leaked images of these consoles will start appearing online. The latest of these images are of the Xbox Series X, Microsoft’s announced next-gen console.
The alleged Xbox Series X images circulated on Twitter and NeoGaf show off a few angles of what seems to be a prototype or devkit Xbox Series X.
In one of the images, the words ‘Prototype-Not For Sale’ is clearly visible, along with a serial number and text that reads ‘Xbox Product Name Holder’. This suggests that if these images prove to be real, the prototype could have been built before Microsoft’s next-gen console had an official name.
The back of the console also has what seems to be an arrangement of various ports, including a single HDMI Out, an optical port, an ethernet port and two USB Type-A ports. There is also a strangely elongated port, which has been suggested to be a port used for diagnostic purposes by developers and won’t be present in the commercial version of the console. This port could suggest that the images might be of a devkit.
While these images do appear to be the real thing, we all know that the internet is filled with images of fake renders and 3D printed consoles. It is widely expected that Microsoft will be showing off more of their next-gen console during their E3 2020 conference. I guess we will just have to wait until then to confirm if these are indeed images of the real thing.
