John Denver’s Take Me Home seems oddly out of place in the new Alien: Covenant teaser. But perhaps, that’s the point. This brief 15-second video gives us another eerie look at Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi horror and also possibly reveals the fate of Prometheus‘ Elizabeth Shaw.
Those who have been following the news and updates on Alien: Covenant will know that the film takes place 10 years after the events of Prometheus, which one had two survivors, Noomi Rapace’s Doctor Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender’s David. While there have been many reports that Noomi Rapace would reprise her role in Covenant, but the new clip which shows her Weyland Corp dog tags might reveal a different fate. The million dollar question is how she died and whether or not David had anything to do with it.
Perhaps the song is a clue. Perhaps Elizabeth Shaw sent out a message to the Covenant asking them to “take me home”. It’s hard to tell, but the brief holographic video display seems to hint at that idea.
The crew of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but it is actually a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the synthetic David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
In addition to James Franco, the R-rated film stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Callie Hernandez, Demián Bichir and Benjamin Rigby.
