Looks like Harrison Ford will be handing over the controls of the Millennium Falcon. The upcoming Star Wars standalone film has found its young Han Solo. It’s official! Deadline reports that Hail, Caesar! and Blue Jasmine star Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as a young Solo.
The Han Solo picture has a 2018 release date and is expected to be called Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. In keeping with this year’s Rogue One, it is currently in preproduction under directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (of 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie). The screenplay for the Han Solo movie is written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan and will focus on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.
The new Star Wars Han Solo picture takes place before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Michael B. Jordan is also reported as a young Lando Calrissian. Ehrenreich may not be a household name yet, but he will be soon.
