adidas launched their very first shoe to feature the Boost technology some five years back. The technology has become synonymous with some of best sneakers in the industry, including the NMD and Yeezy collections. adidas Running released their first-ever high-performance running shoe with industry-defining Boost technology, the Energy BOOST returns. In celebration of this landmark, adidas has updated and re-released the original black and yellow colourways, including the Energy Boost and UltraBoost LTD silhouettes.
The Boost is a superior and lightweight cushioning technology, which provides energy return with each step or stride you take. The technology has grown since it first launched and the state-of-the-art material that defined the adidas Running has gone on in leaps and bounds, braking two marathon world records with performance athletes Mary Keitany and Dennis Kimetto.
The OG, the Energy Boost, was coined thanks to the shoes high-energy return and responsiveness, which is made possible with the heel-to-toe Boost foam in the sole and midsole that stores and returns superfast, lightweight energy every time the foot strikes the ground. Since the first iteration, the technology has improved a lot and now offers a simplified midfoot construction along with a lighter cage. This is a cleaner evolution of the original.
The updated features also include the Torsion System, which moves with the foot for a smoother landing and midfoot support, as you push off. The enhanced Techfit hugs the shape of your foot, with zoned elastic support in the forefoot, which is built on the Aramis research and testing, which we’ve also seen in the AlphaSkin product line. The newly introduced Stretchweb and the Continental rubber outsole adapts to every runner’s foot strike, moving in harmony with the Boost material to provide smoother and more flexible grip. The Boost itself has also seen an improvement, now with 85% Boost for an even further energy return gains.
The 5 Years of Boost Anniversary Pack is available via various adidas performance outlets and concept stores, as well as online at www.adidas.co.za. The Energy Boost will have an RRP of R2,299 with the UltraBoost LTD at R2,999.
