Producer Adi Shankar (The Grey, Dredd) has announced that he’s next project will be a new anime series based on the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
Shankar, who is involved with the new Netflix Castlevania animated series, revealed that he will be bringing the Ubisoft franchise to the small screen. He has been a big fan of the games and feels honoured to be producing the anime series:
“I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles, at that moment, I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day, Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s Creed and create an original anime story set in it as an anime series.”
Azaizia Aymar confirmed on Twitter that Ubisoft will be closely involved with the creation of the series. His tweets also mention that the upcoming Castlevania series will be a good indication of the direction the Assassin’s Creed anime will be heading in. Other than the fact that the story will be a completely original one both Shankar and Ubisoft haven’t revealed much more.
Judging from the details that have been revealed, it would be safe to say that the project is still in the early stages.
