There is good news for fans of the Need For Speed franchise. EA announced in a blog post on their official site that a new game in the franchise is releasing later this year.
According to community manager Ben Walke, fans shouldn’t expect to see anything at E3 2019, which takes place in June, though.
“Are you going to hear more about the next NFS title? Yes. Is it being released this year? Yes. Will we be doing anything in June? No. It’s as simple as that, but we wanted to give you a heads up before you started asking “where are you?”
Walke also wrote that the franchise has always included certain mechanics such as customisation and, of course, amazing cars to race and that the new game would include this and many other aspects that form part of the essence of a NFS game.
He also hinted that, although we won’t see anything at E3 2019, they will be releasing some information in the near future.
“With that, know that we’re here, we’re building an amazing game that we can’t wait to show off, and the next time we talk, we’ll be packing our bags and heading south for the full unveiling,” Walke said. “We’ll see you then.”
Hopefully, the next Need For Speed game can resurrect the franchise. Many of the recent releases in the franchise has lacked that certain magic that made some of the older games in the franchise so special. Let’s hope EA gets it right this time.
