In recent years, the latest Steam sale dates were dropped by PayPal, as has been tradition since the Winter sale in 2015. The sale, in fact, starts today, at 6pm BST or 1pm ET on 22 June 2017.
PayPal took to Twitter to make the announcement public:
There’s no word as yet on any specific deals to be released, but be sure to stay tuned throughout the sale period to get your hands on a few gems at a reasonable rate. In addition, PayPal will offer UK residents an additional £5 off any purchases over £20 in value. PayPal hasn’t made an official statement regarding whether this deal will be extended to other regions during the sale.
What PayPal has confirmed, however, is that the deal will be available until 5th July, possibly indicating the end date for the Steam sale in the process. Only time will tell.
It is worth mentioning that Steam took a different approach to their sale during the Winter 2016 sale, removing flash sales and daily sales. This actually resulted in higher sales during this period, vindicating the decision to scrap the awkward system with buyers needing to pay attention to the Steam Store every hour, 24 hours a day.
No doubt your wallet may take a beating during the sale, but be sure to keep a close eye out for a few really good deals over the next two weeks.
