For some time now, there’s been movement at 20th Century Fox to a reboot of the Zorro franchise. The twist this time around is that, unlike its predecessors, the new film would see the masked crusader fight for the rights of the poor in the post-apocalyptic future. The film is to be titled Zorro: Reborn, although not set in stone as yet. As it turns out, director Ricardo de Montreuil created a short concept for the film, which was shot here in South Africa in 2012 at a cost below $100,000, and starring Peruvian actor, Jason Day, as Zorro. The feature length film was intended to be released in 2014, but no further plans have been confirmed. The short has since been posted online for public viewing.
