After gameplay footage of the upcoming God of War game leaked a few days ago, Sony has finally (and officially) released the 15 minutes of footage. It shows that Kratos is just as deadly (and angry) as ever.
The 15 minutes of God of War gameplay footage sees Karots killing, maiming and decimating his foes. It’s quite apparent that combat has changed significantly from the previous games. While it’s still suitably brutal, combat seems more calculated and strategic.
Watching the footage, you would also notice that Atreus is actually very useful during combat and not as annoying as we feared. Atreus is not only able to help you in combat by distracting foes, but he also has other talents, such as reading Norse texts. It would seem that having him by your side will involve a lot more than just babysitting as he can clearly take care of himself in sticky situations. We also get a glimpse of the game’s upgrade system as Kratos upgrades both his armour and axe.
Yes, it seems that the focus has shifted to a more narrative-driven approach. However, there is still more than enough brutal combat and pissed off Kratos to satisfy even the most ardent fan.
God of War is set for release on the 20th of April 2018 exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
