The Weinstein Company recently acquired the distribution rights from Gaumont for the animated film, Ballerina, and have released the first official trailer for the film. Ballerina is directed by Eric Summer and Eric Warin with a budget of $28m, and a voice cast featuring Elle Fanning, Dane DeHaan, ad Maddie Ziegler. Head of animation is Theodore Ty, who has previously worked on Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda. The film is scheduled for release in early 2017.


The film tells the story of Félicie, a young orphan girl with a passion for dancing. With the help of her best friend Victor, she manages to escape from an orphanage and travel all the way to Paris, where many challenges and intriguing encounters await her. Ballerina is a funny and touching story about friendship, self-confidence and family.
