While we all have our opinions about mobile providers, South Africa’s leading network and consumer champion Cell C is calling for change. In 2012 they shook up the market by introducing a flat call-rate of 99c per minute (all day to any network), with a data rate of 99c per MB. In their boldest advert yet, titled Wake Up South Africa, a homage to morning television news broadcasts hosted by anchor Kwanele Zwane, Cell C reminds us exactly how the network developed over the last year.
The breaking news, of course, is that (whether you like it or not) Cell C still offers the lowest guaranteed flat call-rate and the most affordable data in the country (the same costs in and out of bundle for voice, sms and data). Zwane calls for South Africans to change to their network and points the many reasons why they remain the most affordable mobile provider.
As the underdog, Cell C genuinely seems to be striving towards keeping their customers happy (over 10 million currently). Unlike a few of the other networks out there, they’ve always been on a mission to win over new customers and prove themselves worthy.
I’m genuinely considering the change (at least for the cheap data).
