Memes play such an important role in modern society, so much so that it has the power to relaunch a track onto the Hot Rock Songs chart, some 50 years after its initial release. The song, by Simon and Garfunkel, was released in 1964, and spent two weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966. In conjunction to it’s #6 entry on the charts, it is also reported to have been streamed close to 6 million times since the meme released, 5m on YouTube alone. This puts it at #2 for the most streamed track for top rock songs.
