First, Nintendo announced that they would be testing the Smartphone gaming waters, and now it seems Sony has decided to jump in after.

It was revealed that Sony has set up ForwardWorks, a company that will be focusing on making games for the smartphone market, using numerous PlayStation intellectual properties.

No information has been given regarding when we might see the first of these games hitting smartphone platforms, as it seems that ForwardWorks might be focusing mainly on the Japanese and Asian markets to start off with.

It also seems that the smartphones are becoming a very lucrative market for gaming companies and developers. It will be interesting to see what games and intellectual properties Sony will incorporate into these games.
