Skylander will no longer be a franchise that is only confined to gaming as Skylanders Academy will be making its debut on Netflix in the coming months.
Skylanders Academy will be the first animated show from the new Activision Blizzard Studio’s film and television division. The Show will debut on Netflix and stars Justin Long as Spiro, Ashley Tisdale as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks as Eruptor and Norm MacDonald as Glumshanks. The show will be focusing on the Skylanders, a group of heroes with unique elemental skills, as they train a new generation of cadets to become Skylanders. These cadets will be tasked with protecting the Skylands from evil.
“‘Skylanders Academy’ gives us the opportunity to approach narrative storytelling with the same level of quality and excellence that millions of Skylanders fans have come to expect from the game. We’re inspired by our fans’ excitement for these characters and have worked hard to bring these characters to life with stories our fans will love.” said Activision Blizzard Studios Co-President Stacey Sher.
Not only will the studio be focusing on Skylanders Academy, but they also plan to create content based on the Call of Duty universe.
The latest Skylanders game called Skylanders Imaginators will be launching in October 2016 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U
