Crystal Dynamics has confirmed the leaked 11th of October 2016 release date for Rise of the Tomb Raider on PlayStation 4.
Not only will Rise of the Tomb Raider be coming to PlayStation 4 it will now also be titled Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and will include an all new story chapter called Blood Ties. Blood Ties sees Lara returning to Croft manor in order to defend her birthright and will be compatible with PlayStation VR, it will also include a bonus Lara’s Nightmare mode where Lara has to defend Croft manor from zombies (this won’t be VR compatible).
PlayStation VR will give players a chance to experience a Tomb Raider game like never before said Ron Rosenberg, co-head at Crystal Dynamics.
“This year we celebrate 20 years of the iconic Lara Croft. This provided the perfect opportunity for us to deliver a new Tomb Raider experience. With the addition of PlayStation VR support, you can play the world through Lara’s eyes for the first time in franchise history.”
Along with the bonus story chapter, the game will include a new co-op mode, where players can join up with friends and take on challenging tombs, and all the previously released DLC along with new outfits, weapons and expedition cards. The new outfits will include a Lara card pack that will let players play the game as any of the five classic Lara models from past Tomb Raider games.
The Blood Ties DLC will be made available for free to current season pass owners of the game on both Xbox One and PC.
I have been itching to get my hands on Rise of the Tomb Raider and can’t wait to play this critically acclaimed game.
