There have been some mixed reactions to Hello Game’s procedurally generated space exploration game No Man’s Sky with many asking what could be done to improve the game. Well, now it seems we have our answer.
ASMB Games have released No Mario’s Sky, a game that was put together in 72 hours and that combines the best parts of Super Mario Bros. and No Man’s Sky. Basically, the game is a 2D side-scroller that closely resembles World 1-1 from the original Super Mario Bros. game. What sets this game apart from other Mario titles is that Mario now has access to his very own little spaceship with which he can explore space and discover new planets. Each new planet Mario discovers has its own unique species of Goombas for Mario to squish. The game is playable on PC, Mac, and Linux and is free for download. It’s likely that Nintendo might have the game removed as they have done so with fan-made projects in the past. So if you want to explore distant planets with Mario you’d better do so quickly. Below is a video showcasing some of the gameplay.
