For those itching to see Mario beating up Link or Kirby taking on Bowser, there is some great news as Nintendo has announced that Super Smash Bros. is heading to the Nintendo Switch.
The Super Smash Bros. reveal was made during the latest Nintendo Direct and, as expected, has many fans of the series jumping and screaming in excitement. The announcement was made through a short trailer that has two of the Inklings from the Splatoon games duking it out as colourful splats of paint fill the screen. The mood, however, soon changes when the brightly coloured environment changes to black only to reveal the Smash Bros. logo in the distance. Silhouetted against it is Mario and Link along with some of the other fighters who are harder to make out, although I’m sure we’ve spotted Bowser and Samus. The trailer is short, but impactful and does enough to get the hype going for the game’s release.
Whether this is a brand new game or just an updated version of Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U isn’t clear. We are hoping that it will be a brand spanking new entry in the much-loved series. Nintendo hasn’t announced a specific release date but did reveal that the game will be heading to the Switch in 2018.
