A New BioShock Game May Be In Development

It’s been over 5 years since the last entry in the BioShock franchise, BioShock Infinite, was released. And while it was a good game, it never reached the heights of the original that came before it. Now, a new report from Kotaku indicates that a new game in the franchise is currently being worked on.

A New BioShock Game May Be In Development

The report seems to suggest that there is a top secret studio that is possibly working on a new BioShock game. The news was uncovered by Kotaku‘s Jason Schreier while working on a story about Mafia III developer Hangar 13.

After the troubled release of Mafia III, many of the people who worked on the title moved on to new studios. However, a hand full setup shop in the studio next door and is supposedly working on a yet to be announced BioShock game. The project is apparently codenamed “Parkside”, which is one of the dullest code names I’ve ever heard.

Chances are slim that Ken Levine, who was the director of the previous games, would be working on a new entry in the franchise as his studio Ghost Story Games (previously Irrational games, although still affiliated with 2K) is probably too small to take on an AAA title.

It makes sense for 2K to be working on a new BioShock title as the last game released barring the revered title was a remastered collection for current-gen consoles. Since Infinite, there hasn’t been talk of a new game, which makes this the first murmurs that 2K has got something up their sleeves.

We think it’s about time that a new game in the franchise is released. What do you think? Where should the next BioShock game take place? We’ve been to the depths of the oceans and up to the heavens, maybe space is the next frontier?
