Sony has finally decided to release an update on its smartphones’ firmware, which may have seemed obvious to many when it first joined the Android OEM community. The company’s upcoming Xperia SP smartphone will include native controls from its settings menu to control various PlayStation Mobile titles using the PlayStation 3’s DualShock 3 controller via Bluetooth.

The company has already shown steps toward cross-platform integration with many of its other devices such as surround sound systems and TVs. Previously, users who wished to make use of this combination would purchase the Sixaxis Controller app in order connect. Time will tell whether Sony will update their other smartphone firmware to align with this move, as well as to include the PS4 controller when released, but for now will only be available with the Xperia SP.
