Nearly five years after his death, fans will finally get a look inside Michael Jackson’s archive vault with the release of 8 previously unreleased tracks on Xscape come May 13. In conjunction with the singer’s estate, Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid was granted unlimited access to Jackson’s archives. In the archives, Reid uncovered what a press release calls “four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals.”
The eight selected tracks were “contemporized” by hitmaker producers like Timbaland, Stargate, Jerome ‘J-Roc’ Harmon, John McClain and Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, among others.
“Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with,” said Reid in the press release on Monday. “We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
