Marvel fans have been asking for the return of Marvel One-Shots for some time now. Originally packaged with the films in Phase 1 of the MCU, the shorts added more value to Blu-ray and DVD disk sets. While on a press tour for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland spilt the beans and announced that they will soon be resurrected.
Marvel is learning the hard way that you can’t tell Tom Holland any secrets. The Spider-Man actor keeps letting the cat out of the bag by revealing more and more details about Marvel’s plans for the MCU. Just a few days after the young actor confirmed an Iron Man 2 fan theory, he announced a secret short film with Paul Rudd as Ant-Man.
While being questioned by Uproxx about crossovers with other Marvel characters, aside from Tony Stark, Holland brings up the short films and mentions that the studio is planning on doing them again:
“I want to do a short. That’s what I want to do. I want to do a 20-minute short with me and Paul Rudd…
Yeah. I think they are planning on doing it again. I probably just spoiled a big spoiler. Kevin Feige is probably going to be furious.”
The Marvel One-Shot shorts all debuted on Marvel Blu-ray and DVD releases between 2011 and 2014. It would be great to see them return. During the press tour for Ant-Man in 2015, Kevin Feige stated that the studio has a backlog of ideas for One-Shot shorts. Let’s hope it happens sooner than later.
