Actress Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us, Silicon Valley) has gone from AT&T salesperson in TV commercials to landing the very big role as sassy superhero Squirrel Girl in Marvel’s upcoming New Warriors TV series.
Marvel has confirmed the lead cast for the planned 10-episode series of New Warriors. The show will focus on six young people “with powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of the Avengers” who are living and working together. Earlier this year, Freeform made the surprising announcement that Marvel’s New Warriors were coming to TV as a comedy series headlined by Squirrel Girl.
The rest of the cast includes Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher; Calum Worthy as Speedball; Matthew Moy as Microbe; and Kate Comer as Debrii.
For those who don’t know, Doreen Green, also known as Squirrel Girl, is a fairly popular Marvel character who has super strength, razor sharp squirrel claws (and teeth) and is able to communicate with… squirrels. Her best friend is a pet squirrel, Tippy Toe.
Whether or not the show will take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains unknown.
