Yesterday we got our first look at James Franco’s Captain Branson in the official Alien: Covenant cast image. Now, we get to see crew’s Last Supper as they travel into the unknown in the Alien: Covenant prologue clip.
While we were all expecting a new trailer for the film, 20th Century Fox has done one better and released a prologue to the film instead. The second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus actually looks terrifying. While there aren’t any Xenomorphs present, the mood set in this five-minute long clip is eerie and it sets the tone – which feels similar to the original 1979 sci-fi Alien film.
The clip gives us a better look at Franco as Captain Branson, the leader of the ship. When he goes off to rest for the night, the crew celebrates and starts to party. Michael Fassbender’s David curiously looks on as the crew arm wrestles, take shots and banter. As expected, Danny McBride plays a jerk.
The crew of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but it is actually a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the synthetic David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
In addition to James Franco, the R-rated film stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Callie Hernandez, Demián Bichir and Benjamin Rigby.
